Blockchain ESR

« Blockchain technology promises programmable transactions without the involvement of a trusted third party. The disruptive potential of such an innovation calls for a public strategy that combines regulation and support for innovation… without delay. »

In this context, the “Blockchain ESR” network is studying the possibility of providing a free blockchain open‑source dedicated to Higher Education and Research (ESR).

Research organisations, universities and schools could thus rely on this blockchain to deploy innovative services free of charge, with full trust and autonomy.

Decentralisation being at the heart of blockchain technology, a genuine blockchain cannot be operated, funded or governed by a centralised entity such as a company, an association, a research organisation, or a state…

An ESR blockchain must therefore inevitably be operated, funded and governed by multiple public actors at an international level.

Consequently the “Blockchain ESR” network is open to all staff or entities from Higher Education and public Research in any country, regardless of their field of activity (lawyers, data managers, administrative staff, system administrators, sociologists, researchers, engineers, technicians …) who wish to participate actively or merely as observers.
